Alan Wynzel for punk rocker
“I did have the good fortune of buying, just by chance,
one of the greatest albums of all time: “London Calling”
by the Clash. Of course, The Clash were all over the
radio during those days. They had made it. So it was my
Clash album, my black parachute pants, and my skin tight
Members Only lycra demi-sleeve shirts that made me
think I was Punk. I was buying my clothes at the Just
Shirts store at the mall. What they were selling, really,
was New Wave. And my Capezio shoes sealed that deal:
I was really a New Waver. I was incredibly naive then.
But the girls liked my look and thought I was cool.
I’m lucky there weren’t any real Punks at school
because they would have stomped my poser ass.
Oi…”
