I didn’t face any true hardships first hand because I
was blind to the real world and saw it through the lens of my sheltered Valley girl life and the comfort of my home surroundings. At the time, I had few responsibilities and didn’t have to concern myself with putting food on the table.
Meeting Billy face-to-face demonstrated that even an
icon can fall from grace. Too many wrong steps could
cost him everything. Seeing him in that condition
reminded me that anyone of us could become an addict,
but without his fame and fortune.
