At Godzilla’s, there was always a good band to see,
even if they were not well known. This was our chance to
discover new talent, and we could smell it a mile away.
On stage, we witnessed futures come to life. Our friends
from Woodland Hills, Bad Religion, made their start at
Godzilla’s. At the time, they were an unknown, unsigned
band and just a few short years later, they went on to hit the charts.
We met so many of our favorite local bands. After all,
they were one of us. The Circle Jerks, Social Distortion
and T.S.O.L. were important bands, and we followed
them everywhere they played.
The slam dancing was beyond belief, even though I
was only a spectator. Watching the guys jump about was
a riot. I loved the buzz and the heavy booming of the
music, the vibrancy of the people, the way they looked in
their wild outfits; an amazing sight. Mesmerizing. I never bored of such an environment. The stimulation was such that I didn’t know where to look next, who to talk to first. Waves of energy pumped through the atmosphere, and I had never been so alive.
