Jim Kavanagh for Punk rocker

“…As an individual who was part of the tribe from that time, I’m not sure what makes me angriest. The people
who claimed to have been part of the scene or those who
took credit for being the biographers of New York City’s
punk uprising as it happened.
What went down during that time flew over the heads
of so-called music historians. Forty years later, they are
still looking up and wondering what really happened.
New York City was the epicenter of Punk in the USA.
This leads to many debates. But call it what you will,
there is no doubting it. The royal celebrity following and
history is undeniable.
Unlike other cities, Punk in NYC not only included
music and our “homemade” look, but it also included a
political uprising and a street meaning defined by the
music itself…”
