The second time I saw the Ramones was at the Syria Mosque ballroom. I was actually in the hospital the day of the show with a kidney infection. I wasn’t supposed to leave the hospital but signed myself out so I wouldn’t miss the show. Another smart thing I did was drink a couple of

forty-ounce beers before the show. A local Band, The Cynics, was opening, and I made sure I was right up front. It wasn’t too bad during The Cynics set, but when the Ramones came on, the crowd jammed towards the stage, which left me crushed. I was ahead of Dee Dee, and at one

point, my arm was on his shoe; he shook it loose without missing a note. I had never been that close to them before. I remember their beat-up Converse tennis shoes, and the drool coming from Joey’s mouth when he sang. Even though I was squashed, I was in heaven! Towards the end of

the set, I started to feel sick, hot and lightheaded. I felt like I was gonna faint. I grabbed the bouncer’s shirt and told him I wasn’t feeling well. He and another guy immediately pulled me up on the stage. When they did this, my short leather skirt was hiked all the way up, and the whole crowd could see my underwear! They took me backstage where there was a bathroom. I didn’t faint but was hyperventilating. At that moment, the band was finishing their last song, Let’s Dance, and it was time for them to come backstage. The roadie that was helping me said to stand up against the wall where I would be out of the way. As the band came around the corner, I was a mess! Still hyperventilating, my makeup smeared everywhere, my spiked hair wet and curly. Joey appeared first, then, Johnny, and Dee Dee. I felt my stomach churning. I tried to hold it

back, but I threw up all over Dee Dee’s shoe! He gave me a funny look, shook his shoe off and kept walking. I. Was. Devastated. I found my way out, ran to the side of the building, hid my face, and cried. That one went down in history!
